From seed selection, to the quality of our products in your home, Mann Packing makes every effort to provide the safest fresh vegetables in the world.

Our priority and focus is on the freshest, quality ingredients for our products. This begins with our farming operations and growing regions: Salinas Valley of California for Spring, Summer and Fall, and the California/Arizona desert region for Winter.

Our goal is to exceed food safety requirements. We do this with extensive employee training and support from experts in the industry. In addition to our own Food Safety and Quality Assurance staff, we utilize the services of an independent third party, Dr. Karl Kolb of American Food Safety Institute, International (AFSII), NSF Davis Fresh, as well as Food Processor's Association Supplier Audits for Excellence (FPA-SAFE) to provide additional resources for our Food Safety/QA programs. Dr. Kolb and FPA review all aspects of our operations from harvest through shipping to ensure there are no deficiencies.

From our field department to our shipping department, we are food safety- and quality-focused:

  • Fields are selected, grown & harvested with food safety and quality in mind. Fields and harvesting crews are audited using the standards of our Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) program.
  • Product is cooled and stored in coldrooms until use.
  • Our process from receiving to shipping is HACCP-based and we use USDA and FDA standards as guidelines.
  • a) Our QA staff evaluates all incoming product, notifying production of any food safety/quality issues.
  • b) All product is inspected, washed in chlorinated/chilled water and is passed through metal detection.
  • c) Product is packed and returned to coldroom until shipment.
  • d) All chilled product is shipped on precooled trucks.
