SHOPPERS FALL INTO FALL WITH ON-PACK OFFER

SALINAS, Calif. - Sep. 21, 2009 - Mann Packing Company is steaming things up this fall and aiming to keep shoppers in produceŻand out of the frozen food aisle with an annual on-pack offer for its Steam in Bag vegetable product line.

Beginning Oct. 5, shoppers will save $0.55 when they buy two packages of Mann's Broccoli & Carrots, Broccoli & Cauliflower or Vegetable Medley.

Last year a similar offer had a high rate of redemption at 12 percent.

"We know shoppers want convenience and value," said Lorri Koster, vice president of marketing. "Its fall, families are back on a regular schedule and eating more at home. The economy is continuing to be a challenge so some shopper segments are buying down and moving to bulk or frozen like items. We're happy to continue to provide an enhanced value that will keep consumers shopping in produce and out of the frozen food aisle."

The annual promotion is an opportunity for retailers to create secondary displays of fresh-cut product adjacent to bulk displays and build fall meal-themed ads, Koster said.

More than 150,000 on-pack offers will be applied.
